Outdoor Education: Going Outside to go Inside

At Evergreen Country Day, our outdoor education program is called Journeys. The program offers students extraordinary opportunities to explore the natural world - and discover themselves in the process. Situated near Denver and the majestic Rocky Mountains, our campus extends far beyond the classroom, immersing students in experiences that foster personal growth, leadership, environmental stewardship, and a lifelong love for the outdoors.

Experiential Learning in Nature

Our location provides access to diverse ecosystems, allowing students to engage in rock climbing, backpacking, ice climbing, camping, hut trips, hiking, fly fishing, and more. These hands-on adventures build essential outdoor skills while emphasizing safety, leadership, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.

From "Me" to "We": A Developmental Progression

Journeys is designed to evolve with students, guiding them through a progression that begins with individual discovery and grows into community awareness. Younger students develop confidence and curiosity through outdoor play and exploration, while older students embark on increasingly complex expeditions that emphasize leadership, teamwork, and service.
